ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is the study of behavior. It has been used effectively to treat children on the Autism Spectrum (as well as other children with special needs). ABA therapists make objective, data-based decisions in creating programs that can address language, reducing problem behaviors and acquiring new skills. This is achieved by engaging children in positive and reinforcing ways in a natural environment.
ABA may be used to teach and acquire new skills such as:
- Verbal and language skills
- Social skills
- Academic skills
- Self-help skills
- Gross motor and fine motor skills
